A really interesting course. Jim made the course and its content interesting, engaging and easy to follow. His real examples were not only fascinating but also helped put the learning into context and aided understanding. He was personable and it was a pleasure to attend the training. His teaching style was great. learned a lot and have really enjoyed it. Thank you.

The trainer managed to pivot to change the training to incorporate court skills as well as recording (as this was the title of the course that we had been sent). The trainer's personal skills and experience of the court arena were so helpful and made me feel more able to navigate this in the future as well as allowing me to identify areas where I need to go and further develop my confidence.

It’s a shame the whole session wasn’t related to what I was expecting – Court Room Skills and Record Keeping – but Sue took this on board and changed the session to include what we wanted to learn – Sue gave us the opportunity to break out in to two groups and discuss what we wanted to get from the session and built this in. Sue is very engaging, I enjoyed the session and have learnt something from it. Sue allowed the group to speak when they wanted to and ask questions that she was able to answer; she’s very knowledgeable, approachable and professional, thank you

Due to there being confusion over what myself and fellow learners were there to specifically learn. It was addressed by the trainer and she was able to adapt her way of teaching and asked us as a cohort to outline what we would want to learn. I felt that this was very impressive by the trainer and I believe there approach was very meant that the course was both enjoyable and informative. The trainer was able to take the 'heavy' subjects and kept it engaging throughout the day.

In what might feel like a dry topic for training purposes, it was a very engaging, interesting and useful training session. There was some confusion on the course content identified early on and the trainer was able to adjust the material covered to address this confusion and meet our expectations of the course content.

Stephanie was very knowledgeable, brilliant and engaging. She made engaging with the material very relatable and the advocacy exercise at the end, though nerve wracking, was a brilliant learning curve and gave insight into actual court proceedings.

Overall, the course was a good run through of what to expect on Confiscation. Points I'd like to raise are. The exercises were basic. However, I can see why this was the case because this course is clearly pitched at a level that can cater for both the experienced and inexperienced confiscator, and trying to satisfy the needs of both at the same time is difficult. Something else (unhelpful, I know) is needed to make this course more engaging. The course material as a whole felt unfinished, and to be fair to Olwen she did say it was a work in progress. On this point, I found myself wondering at times whether the manual is designed as a prompt for the trainer or a user manual for the confiscators? I don't think the format worked in this respect. I think a better format would be to take an example case, real or otherwise, break it down into component parts and get into the examination of what is required (procedure, practice, do's and don'ts, etc) at each stage. However, for those like myself who have recently completed the R&C course this will feel like repetition as this is largely how that course worked, but for those seeking a 'sandpit' to refresh and exercise I can see that this may appeal. I get the feeling that Bond Solon have been given a very broad brief and only a little time to create the course. I'm interested to know how the course material develops because something comprehensive on this subject would be very much appreciated.

The trainer had a wealth of experiencing which was extremely interesting and provided a great learning opportunity in itself. listening and group discussions on case studies and experience encouraged the group to impart their experiences, good and bad which raised questions and led to further discussions tips and pointers which were really useful.
