Accessibility Statement for Coursecheck

Last updated: 08/05/2026

Notice: We have recently completed a significant update to the Learner Experience (all pages a learner interacts with when leaving feedback). This update addresses several key accessibility barriers identified in previous audits.

At Coursecheck, we are committed to providing a website that is accessible and user-friendly for all users, including individuals with disabilities. This statement outlines our commitment, summarizes our recent technical improvements, and provides details of our ongoing roadmap.

Our Commitment to Accessibility

Our goal is to make Coursecheck as inclusive as possible, aligning with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines (WCAG) 2.2 Level AA. We have prioritized the Learner Experience to ensure that providing feedback is a seamless process for everyone, regardless of the assistive technology they use.

Testing Conducted

To evaluate and improve accessibility, we utilize the following tools and methods:

  • Lighthouse (v13.0.2): Automated audits for contrast, structure, ARIA validity, and heading order.
  • Accessibility Insights: Manual and automated assessments to document complex issues.
  • Axe DevTools: Comprehensive scans and guided tests for keyboard navigation and interactive elements.
  • NVDA: Testing with a screen reader to verify real-world usability for visually impaired users.

Recent Improvements (Learner Experience)

As of May 2026, the following accessibility standards have been successfully met within the feedback submission functionality:

  • Contrast Ratios: Background and foreground colors now have sufficient contrast (e.g., "Leave Feedback" button).
  • ARIA Attributes: All ARIA attributes match their roles, have valid values, and are used as specified for the element's role.
  • Semantic HTML: Lists are correctly structured with <li> elements, and heading elements appear in a sequentially-descending order.
  • Form Accessibility: All buttons and form fields have accessible names and discernible labels for screen readers.
  • Navigation: The document now includes a main landmark to aid efficient navigation for assistive technologies.
  • Mobile Usability: Touch targets have sufficient size and spacing; zooming is no longer restricted in the viewport meta tag.

Current Identified Issues & Manual Checks

While we have made significant progress in automated audits, we are currently working through manual checks and backend improvements. Key areas of focus include:

  • Keyboard & Focus Management: Ensuring a logical tab order that follows the visual layout and preventing "focus traps" in interactive regions.
  • Interactive States: Ensuring custom controls (links/buttons) clearly indicate their purpose and current state.
  • Dynamic Content: Ensuring user focus is correctly directed when new content or dialogs are added to a page.
  • Backend System: We are extending our accessibility standards to the customer backend, specifically focusing on landmark roles and chart/graph accessibility.

Our Accessibility Roadmap

We are committed to addressing remaining barriers through a phased approach:

  • Phase 1: Learner Experience Overhaul (Completed May 2026): Full implementation of WCAG-compliant automated audit requirements.
  • Phase 2: Manual Usability Audit (In Progress): Conduct manual testing for focus indicators, tab order, and screen reader flow.
  • Phase 3: Backend System Enhancements: Expanding improvements to administrative pages, including HTML structure and landmark role optimization.
