As a SWA I dont complete capacity assessment however following the course I have gained a vast amount of knowledge which I wasnt previously aware of in terms of when to ask for a capacity test and around executive functioning and what to look for
I would have liked the course to be more specific to medicolegal work ie C+P and what to include in a C and P report. Breach of duty etc.
Structured well - I came away understanding the role of the expert witness in the court process clearly as well as what is important to include and not include in the report writing. I would appreciate spending some time in the afternoon on a practical exercise to draft the skeleton of a report based on a hypothetical brief given to understand what might be relevant, what research might be needed and how the arguments could be presented.
I'm still not necessarily confident upon compiling a report. There will be a lot of trial and error as essentially I will have to manufacture one from scratch as such.
Very informative. Lots of discussion, examples, opportunities for questions. The role play to be under cross examination was particularly useful and gave me an insight into what to expect.
a very good overall presentation of expert wtiness reprot writing for those of us who have no previous experience
