This class could've gone the full day on the third day. We sped through the material on the last day, because our class was doing a really good job asking questions and talking about issues they've encountered.
This course did well to communicate the operational auditor's role in data mining. I came away feeling like I knew my role and where I should improve.
Mark was amazing. He gave us a lot of example from his past experiences and provided us with a lot of resources/frameworks we can use in our future audits. I highly recommend this course if your interested in starting in IT Audit.
The course is good and the instructor is very knowledgeable; however, the timing of the course is not suitable for attendees who are not from east coast. The class starts at 8:30 a.m. EST but it is 5:30 a.m. PST. That might attract less attendees who do not live in east coast. Also, a long 8 hours online class is challenging for almost 3 days in the row. it might be easier and better if the class can break down to shorter duration and extra day or so.
I will be looking forward to the next MISTI training!
I really enjoyed this course and what it had to offer.
I first described the course at the end of day one to a co-worker, "It seems a bit over my head but I'm hanging in there!". As we got into day two I became more confident in what I was gaining by the course. I have only been involved in a small amount of audit work since I transitioned to this position 3 months ago, but by the end of day three I will say I am so grateful to have attended this training. I appreciate this high-level review of IA. I feel I am now armed with information and a better understanding of my role!
The course overall was good where it provides a better background around ICS environment. However, it would be better to have case studies in the class exercises. As the majority of exercises were asking students about their own organizations. Unfortunately, a good amount of students had a little or minimal grasp of their ICS environment.
