Coursecheck Review Guidelines for Training Providers
Coursecheck is designed to provide a fair and credible representation of learners' training experiences.
Training providers using Coursecheck therefore have an important role in protecting the integrity of the feedback collected through the platform.
1. Encourage participation
We encourage training providers to give everyone participating in a course or programme the opportunity to provide feedback.
Where practical, collecting feedback on the spot is the preferred approach. For training in a physical classroom setting, displaying a QR code to the whole group at the end of a training session gives everyone the same opportunity to participate and results in much higher response rates than are typically achieved by emailing learners a survey link after the course.
For virtual training, a survey link can similarly be shared with the whole group using the chat function of whichever meetings platform is being used to deliver the training.
Where survey links are distributed to learners after the training, providers must not selectively invite only those learners they believe are likely to provide favourable feedback.
Providers may remind and encourage learners to participate but must not seek to influence the rating or comments they provide.
2. Incentives
Providers may use reasonable initiatives to encourage participation, provided these do not guarantee a personal benefit to the reviewer or depend upon the content of the review.
For example, providers may:
- enter everyone who provides feedback into a prize draw, provided entry does not depend on the rating or comments given;
- use initiatives which do not personally reward the reviewer, such as making a charitable contribution when a particular level of participation is reached.
Providers must not:
- offer or provide a guaranteed personal benefit, such as a voucher, gift or discount, in return for submitting a favourable Coursecheck review;
- make eligibility for a prize or other benefit conditional on giving a particular rating or providing favourable comments;
- offer any benefit in return for changing or withdrawing negative feedback.
3. Fake reviews
Providers must not:
- write or submit a review pretending to be a learner;
- ask or arrange for someone who did not participate in the relevant training to submit a review;
- write or submit a review on behalf of a learner;
- commission or arrange fake reviews;
- otherwise attempt to artificially increase or decrease their Coursecheck rating or review count.
4. Positive and negative reviews
We do not expect every Coursecheck review to be positive. Critical and negative feedback is an important part of a credible review system.
Providers must not:
- ask learners specifically for positive or five-star reviews;
- selectively seek reviews only from learners they expect to be positive;
- discourage dissatisfied learners from providing feedback;
- pressure a learner to change or withdraw a genuine negative review;
- seek removal of a review simply because they disagree with it.
Coursecheck applies the same publication standards to positive and negative reviews and providers cannot choose which reviews appear on their public Coursecheck profile. Regardless of whether a comment is positive or negative, training providers can respond to comments and choose whether their responses should be displayed on their Coursecheck profile pages alongside the associated review.
5. Reporting a review
If you have reasonable grounds to believe that a published review is fake, misleading or otherwise breaches the Coursecheck Reviews Policy or our Terms of Use for Reviewers, you can report it using the Report review option alongside the review or email us at ReportReview@coursecheck.com.
Reporting a review does not automatically result in its removal. Coursecheck will consider the available information and, where appropriate, investigate.
Providers cannot remove reviews themselves, and a review should not be reported merely because the provider disagrees with the reviewer's opinion.
6. Deliberate manipulation
We may take further action where we identify deliberate or repeated attempts to manipulate reviews, ratings or other review information.
This may include removing affected reviews, correcting ratings or review counts, and taking other appropriate action in accordance with our terms.
