Practical scenario work and repeated use of the ALGEE framework help attendees translate mental health first-aid principles into calm, supportive action. They value knowledgeable, empathetic trainers who create safe, inclusive discussions, maintain a clear pace and encourage learning from peers. The blended modules, videos, handbook and breakout exercises build understanding and confidence that transfers to work and personal situations, although some find the online manual awkward to navigate.

A very beneficial course and great tutor. I feel much better equipped to deal with mental health scenarios then prior to the course

The course felt open to discussion whilst providing clear stages and information . I was really happy with the blend of self directed modules and web meetings as they fit into my schedule and allowed flexibility. The instructor Ellender was clear, open and overall a wonderful lead to the course. Defiantly recommend!

The course is quite intense, for the right reasons as mental health can be a sensitive subject for some people. I think i agree with having the course in two parts especially as the online modules need to be done before the course dates. It proves difficult to get these done in short spaces of time due to work demands and not always having the free time to do this outside of working hours.

This course helped me understand how to support someone in mental distress, whether that's talking to someone experiencing a psychotic episode or getting someone with substance issues the help they need. Although it is a heavy subject, I really enjoyed discussing these challenges with my peers and working through the ALGEE plan in different scenarios. I am proud to be a qualified mental health first aider, and while I hope I won't ever have to deal with a mental health crisis, I now feel comfortable in doing so. Helena was a great teacher as she approached the course with care, understanding and no judgement. She invoked great discussions and was very patient throughout. She always listened to what others had to say and encouraged us to share our thoughts. Overall, I'm really glad I took this course and would definitely recommend to others.

This is a great introduction course to MHFA and challenges some stereotypes and myths. Only addition I would make is to explain how you would learn more / follow on courses. But hit all the markers I expected and would certainly recommend

Really enjoyed the course overall. Both Kate and Rob delivered very well and allowed for discussion between everyone with how they most felt comfortable with eg. either talk or use the chat box. I am one that prefers to use the chat box as not very confident speaking so this made doing the course a lot easier. Overall very good course.

I really enjoyed this course. I had attended courses of this type face to face in the past but this course was different as some the guidelines I had been taught have changed since. I have purchased the manual which I have found really helpful to have at hand.
