Practical scenario work and repeated use of the ALGEE framework help attendees translate mental health first-aid principles into calm, supportive action. They value knowledgeable, empathetic trainers who create safe, inclusive discussions, maintain a clear pace and encourage learning from peers. The blended modules, videos, handbook and breakout exercises build understanding and confidence that transfers to work and personal situations, although some find the online manual awkward to navigate.

I learnt so much and feel more sure of which actions and behaviours would help someone with mental health difficulties. Thanks so much:)

I found the course very interesting and informative. It gave enough information to have the ability to help someone without being overwhelming. It’s also put over in a way that it’s is easy to understand no complicated language or terminology

The course content was delivered professionally and encouraged exploration of the topics in an inviting way. There was a good balance of space to discuss and prompting to continue to the next topic. The films helped to break up the content and also provide an illustrative example of the topic.

Excellent course. Very well laid out and organised. Really clear instructions and communication from the instructors. Very open to discussions and clear, helpful responses. Well timed and delivered. Allowed for a good amount of participation along with a manageable amount of information. The instructors were very welcoming, set clear boundaries for the group and allowed for a great discussion. Thank you.

The discussions and exercises completed during the training were informative and useful. Using scenarios that could happen to anyone was extremely useful.

Bethan was a thoughtful and knowledgeable facilitator, who led this informative course really well. The material was thought provoking and gave me chance to wrestle with different scenarios I may encounter in a supportive group setting. I think a version MHFA should become part of the curriculum. If more people were armed with this knowledge, there would be a greater confidence to help people and stigma around mental health would decrease. Thank you, Bethan

Er pa mor drwm fedr rhai o'r pynciau sy'n codi yn ystod y cwrs fod, teimlaf ei fod wedi'i hwyluso'n ofalus a gofalgar iawn. Yn o gystal teimlaf bod y dull o gymhwyso'r wybodaeth i sefyllfaoedd go iawn yn andros o ddefnyddiol ac yn ffordd dda o godi hyder rhywun i allu gwneud hynny mewn bywyd go iawn.
