Practical was great! The theory was a little slow, not very engaging

I think this course is a good basic overview of Care mandatory training for areas such as health and safety, incident reporting etc. The trainer is very engaging and explains things well but it felt a lot of information was rushed and the main concern was finishing early. I would not recommend it as a safe paediatric training session. For infant cpr nothing was mentioned about infant airway, being bendy like a straw, how to keep neutral. How to check brachial pulse, and nothing on infant or child choking which should be included in bls. I know that general public should be 30:2 but surely these are Care professionals who are getting a paediatric certificate and the guidelines from resus council are 15:2. No practice with smaller ambu bags, nothing about the valve and not pushing too hard. Nothing was mentioned for the reasoning behind why children have 5 resuce breaths first. Nothing mentioned about potential scenarios, anaphylaxis etc. I was disappointed. I would feel unsafe for staff attending this course saying they had a peadiatric bls certificate. I also did not think the open asking of staff so openly in front of everyone, people may not have the confidence to say they're not happy or have a question. You mentioned that only people who paid for infant could have it on their certificate but it was an extra 5 minutes training.

The course was good but feel some adjustment could be made.

I would like to commend the instructor for his professionalism. He was very engaging and took the time to answer all of our questions thoroughly. Although the practical portion of the training was unfortunately limited. Several pieces of equipment were faulty or not in working order, which meant we did not get to practice certain techniques hands-on. I also noted that some of the statistics and data within the e-learning modules appear to be outdated. To ensure all staff are working with the most current clinical evidence and safety guidelines, I would recommend a review of these modules to bring them in line with recent figures.
