Practical scenario work and repeated use of the ALGEE framework help attendees translate mental health first-aid principles into calm, supportive action. They value knowledgeable, empathetic trainers who create safe, inclusive discussions, maintain a clear pace and encourage learning from peers. The blended modules, videos, handbook and breakout exercises build understanding and confidence that transfers to work and personal situations, although some find the online manual awkward to navigate.

Very casual and comfortable environment with no fear of judgement, open questions sometimes met with silence but other options for answering questions seem impersonal, the breakout rooms were very good providing a smaller space for discussions

Cathy was a fantastic course instructor and had the perfect mix of personable skills and knowledge to guide us through some difficult but important content at times.

Enjoyable and instructive course, the videos were more useful than the split group sessions, it felt like there were too many of those.

The webinars were great, Cathy was very approachable, kind and delivered the material well. She approached the subjects sensitively and allowed time for rest and reflection. Having access to the manual is also very handy and will have that saved to my phone for future referencing. Modules were a little difficult to access through mobile and accidentally skipped through and had to go back. Otherwise, very informative and opened up great discussions in the group.

Very informative course and in depth with all that was covered. Very useful for my work environment and within the community as a whole. Useful that we are able to purchase the Manual for learning, It would have be useful to be able to have access to download it too to use more during the webinar. But as a whole the tutors where very good and supportive. Very good course.

I thought it was very insightful and helpful regarding how to be helpful for those in crises, for various mental health reasons. I loved the breakout room sessions, and how we werne't always paired with the same people - it gave us a chance to discuss more informally and get to know people better. I found the mental health manual really helpful and will continue to use it moving forward. I would've loved for the course to have been in person but understand that current context doesn't allow.

The only negative I could possibly raise would be the gap between webinar 1 and webinar 2 but that is not the fault of the trainer at all, that's on our hectic office and all our deadlines etc! The trainer, Ellender (webinar 2), was really friendly, knowledgeable and made the session fly by, there was room for discussions and I never felt like I was being talked AT. Our first instructor (I can't remember her name!) was also really good, she talked about live experience of mental ill health and allowed room for discussion and decompression in talking about suicidality and suicidal ideation and self harm (very sensitive topics). Overall, I would highly recommend the MHFA training course to any one :)
