Practical scenario work and repeated use of the ALGEE framework help attendees translate mental health first-aid principles into calm, supportive action. They value knowledgeable, empathetic trainers who create safe, inclusive discussions, maintain a clear pace and encourage learning from peers. The blended modules, videos, handbook and breakout exercises build understanding and confidence that transfers to work and personal situations, although some find the online manual awkward to navigate.

An interesting course which provided good guidance in order to help people, giving me the confidence to help. Some break out rooms were ineffective as not everyone participated. Huge thanks to our trainer, very knowledgeable and helpful.

This is a vast field with so much to learn. The course gives a good introduction and overview to prospective MHFAs.

Enjoyed this course and will recommend to my colleagues and friends. If everyone did this course I think the stigma that still clouds over mental health would definitely start disappearing! Brilliant course many thanks.

I thoroughly enjoyed the course overall, it was very informative and it was great being able to participate and ask questions freely. It was good that both the instructors and participants spoke about their experiences and situations involving mental health. After completing the course I have more knowledge and feel more confident in helping people with mental health illnesses

Excellent set up to the course - both instructors did a great job of of opening conversation and leading discussion, retaining the timeframe of the course without having to limit peoples input. The combination of online learning with 'face-to-face' (virtual) consolidation worked really well, and actually touches on learning approaches for all types of learners, retaining interest. The materials and structure of the modules are appropriate in length and content, wit just enough information, user engagement and media to maintain interest. Having to do this around work did mean that at times I did too much in one go, which reduced the amount of information I could absorb, however I was surprised how much information could be recalled in the consolidation session - Obviously the materials are well married up. Well done, fair play, it is good to attend a course that achieves its objectives. Only possible thing to add would be maybe signing off with a contact point, or suggested contact point that MHFAiders can approach if they feel they are apprehensive or still unprepared to deal with certain situations - That being said, both of the instructors said that they can be contacted to this effect, so maybe that comment is redundant. Thanks again!

Excellent workshop covering a wide range of areas of mental health issues, which helped me have a better understanding and to feel confident in being able to offer assistance. The instructors encouraged attendees to participate and to ask questions, further broadening the scope of learning, giving an all round excellent presentation.

Really interesting and beneficial course. Excellent online resources and videos really brought situations to life and kept me engaged. Especially liked the video with the yellow blob as it clearly demonstrated the effects of addition. The break out rooms were useful and gave time to engage with other members of the mental health first aiders team.
