Paul did a great job delivering the course. Some information in outdated, especially related to manual handling training and could be updated to reflect the current evidence.

Room too small to be able to practice everything fully. Too many participants for size of room. Also was extremely warm

Room was far too small, poor trainer had no room to let everyone practice. Very poor set out which is unfair on both participants and trainer.

I recently had the privilege of attending the Tier 2 Training for the Oliver McGowan Mandatory Training on Learning Disability and Autism on 31 March 2023, delivered in person at the Health & Safety Group’s Chiswick venue in London. The full-day participatory course was exceptionally well-structured, engaging, and deeply impactful. The training was facilitated by the highly knowledgeable and professional lead trainer, Andra Al Hamouri, supported by co-trainers Reuben and Joshua, who led the learning disability and autism sessions respectively. Each trainer demonstrated outstanding subject expertise, delivering content with clarity, passion, and genuine commitment to improving understanding and practice within health and social care. What truly set this course apart was the invaluable contribution of co-trainers with lived experience. Reuben and Joshua brought authenticity, depth, and powerful personal insight to the sessions, offering perspectives that cannot be replicated through theory alone. Their involvement was both enlightening and inspiring, significantly enhancing the learning experience and reinforcing the importance of person-centred care. The course successfully fostered a deeper awareness of the challenges faced by individuals with learning disabilities and autism, while equipping attendees with practical knowledge and tools to deliver more compassionate, inclusive, and effective care. The interactive format encouraged meaningful reflection and discussion, ensuring that the learning was both engaging and memorable. This training is not only highly beneficial but essential. Its mandatory implementation across health and social care is a vital step forward in achieving the goals of the Oliver McGowan campaign. It is reassuring to see such an important initiative supported at both NHS and governmental levels, underpinned by appropriate legislation. I would highly recommend this training to all professionals within the sector. It is an exemplary programme that sets a benchmark for quality, inclusivity, and impact, and it plays a crucial role in driving positive change in care delivery.
