Compassionate, knowledgeable trainers make challenging mental-health topics feel safe, accessible and engaging, according to attendees. They value the balance of clear explanation, real-life examples, videos, workbooks, scenarios and group discussion, with inclusive facilitation, regular check-ins and a comfortable pace. The structured ALGEE approach and practical exercises build confidence to recognise distress, start difficult conversations and offer appropriate support at work and in everyday life.

I feel that the course would need to be run for a full 8hr day rather than 4 hrs this gives the opportunity for the team to interact more, as I feel this is an important part of the course and it also give the teacher more time to discuss the topics with us. Really enjoyed the course it just needed more time :-)

Great course, but 4 hours is not long enough.

The session helped to refresh and update myself on the mental health first aid. The course was interactive and gave insight on different ways to deal with the situations & supports to provide. The allocated time for the course was not sufficient to cover the contents in detail. I think it will be better to have a whole day session so that we will have more opportunity for discussions and skill practices.

A really useful course that highlighted lots of information - most of it completely new to me but it also helped to identify areas that I may have experience or knowledge of without realising. Excellent resources that will be a great reference point Thank you

Just an overall really enjoyable training week. Could not have asked for better trainers and grateful to be apart of the MHFA Wales Instructor team.

The 2 instructors worked seamlessly together and were really enthusiastic. They were honest and human and exceptionally knowledgeable and I felt safe in the group. We were fortunate that all participants were equally enthusiastic and it was probably the best training I have ever been on. As someone going on to now deliver - the honesty about 'stuff which can happen' and some disruptive behaviour which can be shown by participants was invaluable and it was very comforting to know Gwen and Rhys have already experienced some of this tough stuff. Sorry both I always write 'War and Peace' :-)

Response: Hi Nikki, Thank you for your very kind words. We are so glad you enjoyed the training. Gwen and Rhys have worked really hard on developing the instructor training. Good luck on your training delivery from all of us here at MHFA Wales.

Very good, top notch course. Was really valuable to have these sorts of discussions, and gave me a lot of food for thought.

Very insightful and I feel I took quite a lot away, specifically the ALGEE approach. Only wish it could have been in person somehow, but I understand Zoom is more flexible too. Thanks very much Jacqui! Would highly recommend the course to my colleagues.
