AI summary of reviews

Consistently knowledgeable, patient and engaging trainers are the provider’s clearest strength, making complex theory accessible through humour, real-life examples, discussion and hands-on practice. Attendees value the safe, supportive atmosphere, clear explanations, thoughtful adaptations and opportunities to ask questions and repeat techniques until confident. Courses are generally well structured and paced, with useful breaks, and learning transfers directly to workplace practice and everyday situations; a few attendees find some sessions longer or more repetitive than necessary.

More could have been given to clinical holds and the settings. As well as feeling limited with what was learned on the chairs.

The lower score for the content and materials was really based around the clinical holds. Completing holds on 2 slippy sheets is not something that will happen in practice. There needed to be more specific holds for clinical interventions so everyone has the same approach. NGT can be particularly difficult if there is not some standard set in training. Moving forward a focus on clinical would be beneficial for the general paediatric setting. Some of the slides and references where out of date. I enjoyed the PBS focused aspect of the training. I can see it matching well with other initiatives at RMCH. The trainer was knowledgeable and approachable throughout, good job.

Response: Hi Andrew. Thank you for taking the time to leave such detailed feedback. You will be pleased to know that the trainer has raised the issue of the matts and clinical holds. I will be sure to raise this as part of the review of the initial training to ensure continued improvement. Thanks again. Rachael, Head of Operations, Sherwood Training

This was a good course, the theory section was delivered with confidence and I found it engaging. I’m neurodivergent so I know sometimes I can be harder to teach, I will often come out with instant comments relating to the subject that can make people laugh. I don’t mean it, but if I find it funny it flies out my mouth faster than my brain processes it. I thought the trainer did well with this. And I thank you for it.

The morning/and early afternoon theory is quite a heavy slog. Maybe an energiser after lunch? Content excellent, very well and knowledgeably delivered. Lots of good anecdotal discussion amongst colleagues. Thank you.

I enjoyed the course, I thought it was insightful and informative. I think it would be beneficial for the medication and basic life support to be a little longer and more detailed. For example, we were told what to do if someone were to have a seizure but no details on how to recognise a seizure and the difference in seizures.
