Good course, but not the usual amount of practical exercises as in previous S5s. Perhaps the higher number of candidates on the course prevented this?

Despite being a bespoke course it did not really fit the operational environment under which we operate. That being said it did increase my knowledge of high voltage operations when high voltage switching is used. The questions in the exam were not really covered in the content of the lectures and as such personal study was required. This could have been made more explicit from the outset to give the candidates forewarning of the challenge they face. The questions in the paper also had a high level of ambiguity and this led to significant difficulty in interpreting what the examiner wanted as an answer.

Overall very good course. As a bespoke course it could be tweaked closer to what equipment we actually work on. Also better to have material on our systems.

Bespoke course contents needs review beyond the section titles. Matching up the practical and written assessments with our objectives for the course is needed

The S12 is too similar to the S4 with not enough HV to HV and HV Multi Feed Content. I didn't get out of the Course what I hoped for and should have booked the S5 instead.

Course drawn out over 5 days. Easily be compressed into a 3 day course.

Good course for introduction - would like to do more specific work on HV communications

he equipment is not appropriate for the training content. The trainer showed high efficiency in conveying the content, but the practical assessment is not completely identical to the theoretical one because the place and equipment are completely different from what they should be.

Interesting insight and Refresher going through some interesting scenarios from historical events. Could do with more practical exposure to the switchgear/writing up switching schedules.

For the advanced training course it would be nice to do practical testing of the advanced protection features. E.g. Distance protection, Differential Protection, directional overcurrent and reverse power testing. Also I think it would be beneficial to go through the connections on the test block rather than being pre wired, I think it would be beneficial to have candidates wire the test blocks themselves to better help understand what cables are required for different tests.
