Poor quality photos and switching schedules in presentation made following impossible. Projector also quite dim at times. Course content too advanced for AP course. Should have run through whole rules word by word. Then performed switching following a SAPs switching schedules multiple times proving as an AP we would spot mistakes and prove competence using kit, following switching instructions and providing dead. Delays in confirming that we could have the course note folders made us rely on detached notes which made understanding later harder.

An ok course, could do with updating to factor in new technologies, methods of teaching. Lecturers were experienced, competent and always helpful. Facilities were clean and comfortable, free tea and coffee But Did not need to be 5 days, i would say 2/3 days max would suffice. Suggest sharing course plan (day by day breakdown) and notes with example questions included to complete prior to commencement so students can see where they have knowledge gaps and then focus on those during attendance. In fact attendance is really only needed for the pratical training and test. Would have appreciated more time on practical equipment. In a room full of many (20-30) pieces of switchgear, i operated only 3. Some of the switchgear was broken not operating as it should, which was disappointing. I understand the format is necessary as the only way to get some people over the line but think a pre course test may help seperate/filter competent from ignorant/less academic types. Pre Course communication was poor needed to chase for clarification and there was still confusion when I arrived (not notified about pre attendance site safety induction, lunch arrangements)

I would have like to have some practical teaching on synchronising generators

A little light on detail in places but offset by the folder supplied.

The changing of the tutors made the course feel at times a bit disjointed, but on the whole it was a good introduction to understanding the H. V. side of permits. The use of the practice switch gear was very helpful.

Arrived to find had been put in AP course instead of SAP. Course content needs revising to reflect AP roles and responsibilities. Day 1 was all on PowerPoint and about legislation which I believe is covered by Uniper in our SRT1 & SRT2 courses. Day 2 content had been amended to include some PSSR bits. The idea of deciding precautions to be taken from a drawing/in practice is done by the SAP at viridor and this content is way advanced for our new APs. I'd suggest that this course gives out isolation certificates and asks the delegates to perform isolations on running systems. Content about HSG 253 was good and relevant and I did learn from that. Course title reflects LOTOTO which the ERFs do not run with. We have permit office and roles. Old documentation shown in course from in excess of 6 years ago. Viridor logo very old and likely from a MRF site. I would happily be involved in amending the course content. Instructor was brilliant, cannot fault John but this course isn't right in its current format. Thank you

The course it's self was good but unfortunately did not apply to my job role. I think if I was trying to become a SAP this course would have been very beneficial and Norman was a good lecturer who is very knowledgeable. I feel EDF should have consulted the technicians before picking a course for us and asked us what we NEED to help us become better at the electrical aspects of our work. Would happily come back to the faraday centre if I was given the chance and had more beneficial course contents.

Unfortunately the course material wasn’t what the lads from EDF were expecting. We were expecting a more LV related course but this was focused on HV. The course given to us would be ideal for employees looking to become SAPs. I think if the organisers through EDF had consulted the technicians on what we required a more suitable course could have been achieved. Norman was great and obviously a very knowledgeable guy and the facilities were spot on. Hopefully we can be back for a more suitable course

i felt over all it was a full on course so prior prep and heads up to attending the course would be beneficial for all attendees, the structure and delivery of the course could do to be reviewed some segments of the training would of been handy to do prior to some of the exams not after, the instructor was very knowledgeable and made the course reasonably relatable, a lot of the slides within the course didn't seem relevant to either the course or any of the exams which felt like a major drain on time throughout the course. the hotel ran out of food early on in the week which ment we had to source our own meals

Very slow paced course. Could have fit the content that we completed into 2 days. Lots of unneccesary powerpoints and videos such as a partial discharge detection equipment sales video?? Advertised as SAP training course, but using outdated British Steel safety rules which don't use SAP. Equipment was good and vast, but more complex isolations would have been beneficial. £500 extra for 33kv upgrade was definitely not justified.
