Excellent and thought invoking. Helpful for the purpose of educating about suicide first aid

I enjoyed the training and the interaction of others. I know that Sofia was running a generic session but maybe she could have been a little more up to speed on the campaigning going on. She seemed unaware. That is not a criticism really and I hope this stands her in good stead if dealing with a similar scenario. Overall, a great session

I really enjoyed the course and feel confident that I’d be able to deal with that situation if it arose.

My objective was to improve my understanding, and I did. Thinking above suicide, I can imagine 3 phases: Phase 1 "on the cliff edge", Phase 2 " the 12 to 24 hours after that", and Phase 3 "the 1 to 365 days after that". Obviously First Aid is about phases 1 and 2, and my specific interest was to kind of audit check what I did or didn't do in Phase 3 (which actually went on for 6 years) in the case of my son who ultimately took his own life. I don't think I could have done much more, short of forced control of all aspects of a 23 year old's life. But what it does highlight is that "best in class" gambling treatment still has a 30% to 50% drop out and relapse rate, which is serious cause for concern. So, this feed back isn't really relevant to this course, but a general point for Phase 3 treatment providers would be to make sure relapse is anticipated, and that a safety plan for it is in place.

Fantastic course, albeit the subject was and is hard going. This was made much easier by the instructor.

A thought provoking course that sits alongside the MHFA well.
