I started this course with little knowledge of what would be the right thing to say or how to react to someone in a suicide crisis or that I felt had suicidal thoughts. Since this course I have addressed a personal friend that has suggested suicidal thoughts on social media. Previously I have been trying to assist with their Mental Health but had not spoken of the Suicide element as I did not know how to approach it. One of the first things I did after this course was openly and comfortably discuss it with the individual. The first thing they said was thank you for asking, yes I am still contemplating it. We have been conversing around it since and I've been using my training here. I feel very empowered from this course. Thank you.

Steve was a brilliant group leader - he was clearly knowledgeable about the subject both practically and I felt emotionally. A lot of comments resonated with me and I feel more confident in potentially discussing suicide prevention with a young person.
