Today, I learned that record keeping is important because it keeps information organised accurate and easy to access. It has a legal side as proper record keeping needs to adherence to the laws, prove compliance and protect myself and the organisation. Also we must store record safely keeping them for the required time and handle or dispose of them safely.

There is always pressure to make sure there is documented evidence for every interaction within our working week. I feel that sometimes, due to the ever changing role of nursing and the generic tick box assessments and timed, one size fits all interventions, it is easy to forget the reasons why documentation is so important. The continuity of care relies on the nursing notes and it is only by going back to basics and writing up nursing notes instead of filling in a generic form, that nurses can continue to offer the kind of patient care that we are so passionate about.

I found the training session to be both valuable and informative, providing useful knowledge and practical insights.
