I marked this "After completing the training are you more confident you can recognise the signs that someone may be experiencing thoughts of suicide?" as NO because I felt confident prior to the course that I could recognise these signs. I don't find role play in these situations useful as it is not real life and I don't think it adds anything. I would have preferred to spend more time focussing on ways to help someone in this situation. I found some bits confusing, i.e. first we are told we are only administering 'first aid' to the person thinking of suicide and to hand over to a professional, then later we were told not to rush to hand over but to concentrate on building rapport with the person. The course was a bit long. Some people were flagging for the last hour and a half.

As a qualified counsellor a lot of the content I already knew, however it was a nice refresher and the tutor was great.

COURSE WAS GREAT, but due to my network issues, missed out bits, and no where able to catch up. Therefore we should be notified of when working on the workbooks to capture as much and if any further information required that notes would be available. We were told mid way that we would not get the course slides, however that should be identified at the beginning.

the course content is very in depth and clear. The materials provided with it are very useful when going through the content. The structure of the course was good and there were enough breaks included. The tutor delivered the information calmly and was respectful of all participants. I do wish there would have been an initial page outlining the structure of the day so I could feel relaxed about when a break may be coming up. I did find that being asked to perform in front of everyone was unexpected and there was not enough time to prepare, due to my learning need. These parts did impact my overall experience.

A very worthwhile course. Not only is it enlightening, it gives direction and confidence of how and where to ask important and relevant questions and therefore enable you to apply suicide fi

I found it really interesting and also reassuring that I have been doing the right sort of things in my job.

The course was very useful in making you realise that it is ok to have difficult conversations and use the word suicide, which i dont think i was comfortable with before. The group was supportive and there were lots helpful tips and phrases we spoke about and shared to help with future conversations.

It was a good course and still some upbeat moments given the serious subject matter which really helped lift the mood
