Fantastic delivery, the trainer had loads of experience and empathy and this made it resonate. Can’t recommend it enough.

The best CPD I have ever been in. The trainer was extremely knowledgeable and paced our learning intelligently and with humour and sensitivity- allowing lots of time for input/questions and identifying those who needed extra support or encouragement.

It's very informative and quite intense being delivered in 3 days. The trainers do their absolute best to make it relevant with live examples that happened to them. Overall, a very good course and will definitely recommend.

The trainer was very knowledgeable, happy to answer questions, and friendly. The course covered lots of helpful and interesting content, with clear videos and slides. I liked that there was a test at the end of each day to assess what you learnt. However, I do have some issues with it. - the trainer was great at lecturing, but not really good at teaching & correcting. For all the practical aspects we only did them once. So there was no time to practice, receive corrections, improve. Lots of people around the room were doing things that I noticed weren't great, but the trainer only gave feedback and corrections to a couple of people. And then if the participants didn't implement his corrections he just gave up. - it felt more like a tick-box exercise, with everyone getting a qualification at the end, rather than ensuring that everyone actually learnt something and was actually competent enough to have that qualification. The CPR "assessment" we did without any practice beforehand, and plenty of people weren't doing very good CPR but still "passed" that bit of the assessment without correction. The assessment at the end of the day was meant to check how much you'd learnt. But the trainer basically told everyone throughout the day which parts were going to be on the test at the end, and then just before the test did some "revision" that was again just going over the answers to the test you were about to take. During the test taking the trainer left the room so several people cheated by conferring on the answers to the questions. Then the trainer checked over everyone's answers before they submitted, and told them to look over their answers again if they hadn't gotten enough right to pass. And then gave some heavy hints later as to what exactly was wrong with some people's answers. Lots of the participants on the course didn't have great English, and when they asked questions you could tell that they hadn't always understood what the trainer had said. So I'm not sure how much some of the people on the course actually took in, yet they still passed and now have this qualification. I know it doesn't seem that deep, but actually this is really dangerous. Because these people now have a first aid qualification, so e.g. companies might think they've satisfied their risk assessment by having a first aid trained person present, but they haven't really learnt much first aid, so if something did happen there would be no one around to actually help, and someone could get really badly injured or die. - the time wasn't used very well. For a three day course we probably only did about 1.5 days of actual course. The trainer skipped over any recaps, and only did each of the practical elements once. I think it would have been a better use of time for more (quick) recaps to be built in, to ensure that people actually remembered what they had learnt, and for more time to be spent practicing the practical elements of the course. I know that it was convenient for everyone to get through the course quicker and be able to go home at lunchtime, but it's a 3-day course for a reason, I'd like to get three days worth of learning out of it. So overall, personally I really enjoyed it, learnt loads, and got a lot out if it. But some of the people who were on the course with me and are now qualified first aiders I would not trust to look after me if something happened. I think the trainer didn't do enough to ensure that participants were actually learning what he was teaching (because he was teaching some really great stuff!), and that only competent people actually got the qualification.

Fiona made the course super interesting and engaged with the entire team. I learnt a lot. I was not expecting to be so surprised by the information received. But I was. I will have to give Fiona an easy 10/10 for doing an excellent job. The team on my site was still talking about the course for the next couple of weeks. Thank you Fiona.
