Compassionate, knowledgeable trainers make challenging mental-health topics feel safe, accessible and engaging, according to attendees. They value the balance of clear explanation, real-life examples, videos, workbooks, scenarios and group discussion, with inclusive facilitation, regular check-ins and a comfortable pace. I really enjoyed the breath of the course and it definitely filled in some of my knowledge gaps particularly about substance misuse which I am unfamiliar with. I thought the ALGEE was a great approach and it was very constructive especially thinking about the self harm aspects as sometimes I just want to fix things for people and in the past I haven't been confident enough to be specific if a learner said they were planning on doing something. I did feel however and this is coming from my experience in Neuro diverse individuals that perhaps the ted doesn't take into account that sometimes the language centre completely shuts down when the amygdala has been triggered. Sometimes if they do not answer you they may not be able to tell you what the matter is and just reassuring them they are safe and distracting are more effective if you are working with an upset neuro diverse learner Being aware of that is really important I think, but I enjoyed the course and I found it really helpful so thank you.

An informative and thought provoking training package. The instructors were engaging and knowledgeable. The handbook is a very useful resource to use in practice. The tasks instructing application of ALGEE are effective and help build confidence in using the MHFA Action Plan.
