Compassionate, knowledgeable trainers make challenging mental-health topics feel safe, accessible and engaging, according to attendees. They value the balance of clear explanation, real-life examples, videos, workbooks, scenarios and group discussion, with inclusive facilitation, regular check-ins and a comfortable pace. The structured ALGEE approach and practical exercises build confidence to recognise distress, start difficult conversations and offer appropriate support at work and in everyday life.

Thoroughly enjoyed the course. Easy to follow and well thought out. The whole group was willing to add their ideas and willing to listen to others. It was a great opportunity for me, to put faces to names. Highly recommend

Some technical issues but once resolved everything worked fine, yet I struggled to hear some of it. The one discussion that seemed to have the most impact was where we had to decide who was being the affected person, who was the MHFA and who observed. I struggled to be either other than the observer but it made me realise that sometimes saying something that might seem inappropriate might actually be what a suicidal person needs to hear if it gets them talking.

A really valuable course and I really appreciated being able to draw on the expertise of the presenters. This course would be incredibly valuable to newly qualified teachers (indeed all teachers!) in schools, both in terms of preparing them well for working with pupils with mental health issues but also in terms of supporting their own mental health and wellbeing. There is very little/no input like this on initial teacher training or the NQT year and I hope to rectify this next year.

Thoroughly enjoyed every minute of this course.I feel it has educated me further with understanding mental health and being more confident when being in a situation with someone in crisis. The course was facilitated in a friendly but professional way.I know that what I’ve learned from this course will be used in my every day work with parents and colleagues, this will make a big difference I’m am sure to my place of work. Many thanks for being an absolute great facilitator and making the course so enjoyable Dave.
