Looking forward to making my own mistakes :).

It would have been 5 stars overall, but the website was glitchy and kept shutting down when I wanted to proceed, which slowed me down in getting through the content.

I found the online part of the course to be quite flat, despite the content itself being very interesting. There were also a high number of spelling errors on the slides which I felt was unprofessional. The best part of the course for me was being able to discuss and enhance on what we had covered in the live online sessions. Overall, the course was enjoyable and eye-opening and I feel far better prepared to help someone in mental health crisis, or otherwise, than I was before.

Very Informative Sessions. Good resources

I found the course very useful given that it is a huge subject. A lot was covered in two days and the take home materials provide plenty of additional background. I felt there was an emphasis on attitudes to mental health and getting delegates to empathise with those affected, and would have liked more practical content in terms of recognition, action and formulating plans to ensure the colleague receives continued support. This could have extended to strategies for the workplace. The two EEs of ALGEE seem to be repetitive, perhaps it should be ALGEP with P standing for Plan.

I have a lot of experience in this field so a lot of the content was a good refresher.

The course has greatly enhanced my confidence in engaging with individuals experiencing mental health challenges, enabling me to have more meaningful and beneficial conversations. It has empowered me to better understand their needs, avoid potential misunderstandings, and effectively support them without unnecessary discomfort or escalation.

We didn't quite complete all the tasks because we were a chatty bunch, but I do think the course content was fantastic and could even have been delivered over 3 days which would have let us complete everything. We had an incident recently where someone in our workplace made a disclosure and what was reassuring after taking the course was that everything we did was essentially what we learned on the course - we implemented ALGEE without knowing it! But I feel far better equipped now to deal with any potential incidents arising, and feel really reassured that Steve also said if we wanted to reach out for further guidance that we can. Really well delivered, we were just too chatty!

Really useful and interesting course. I've really enjoyed both webinars and the online modules and feel that I have learned a lot and have found the course valuable. Michelle is a great teacher too and has an excellent ability to encourage communication within the group.

It's still really difficult to remember what ALGEE stands for in its entirety as each letter stands for multiple things but overall I feel like the important stuff has really stuck with me, about asking directly if someone is suicidal and about what not to say. I felt that a lot of the webinar training repeated what was in the online training beforehand but often didn't add on or build on the material very much. It was good to have the training not only mention how to help students but general MHFA (such as the substance misuse material) so that I feel better able to help people outside of the university, too.
