Perhaps I am too close to suicide, having a close family member die in this way. The whole experience was and still is very traumatic. But that meant I felt a little frustrated by the course. It seemed to encourage people to think they could fix the situation, when I don't think you can in a "first aid" situation. The good thing was that it encouraged people to talk. I was surprised there wasn't more discussion about referral pathways. For example to GPs.
Fantastic course, highly recommend and Steve was BRILLIANT
It was a small intimate group with very mixed experiences but this didn't matter as it was facilitated in a very sensitive manner and we learned from one another. It was an excellent course that I would certainly recommend to others.
Steve ran the course amazingly and delivered it to us perfectly. I'm coming away from the course with the knowledge that i could potentially help someone in there time of need. Will recommend to others
Course was presented very well and has gave me the tools I need to be able to help that person and made me more confident. I will enrol on the level 4.
I really enjoyed the course, although it is not a subject that is openly discussed it was very interesting.
This training was hugely beneficial in my field of work and I feel so much more confident in supporting suicide first aid. Asking the question “Do you have thoughts of suicide? “ in a working capacity I am happy to communicate, however from a personal perspective I felt that exceptionally hard and brought back precious thoughts.
Very good course and didnt realise how much information i didnt have in my personal toolbox and require in our line of work.
Excellent delivery by the tutor. The course certainly improved my awareness.
