AI summary of reviews

Attendees particularly value the practical use of the ALGEE framework, scenarios and discussions, which make difficult mental-health topics approachable and give them confidence to recognise distress and start sensitive conversations with young people. They describe knowledgeable, empathetic trainers who create a relaxed, non-judgemental space, alongside a well-structured blend of self-study, webinars and breakout activities. The handbook and resources support application at work, though some prefer face-to-face delivery.

Very helpful course. I would recommend this course to an individual who has a lack of mental health knowledge as well as someone who thinks they have a good knowledge of mental health as it is beneficial for both.

My only comment for improvement would be for the facilitators/trainers to have access to more relevant videos, that depict teaching practitioners or those not necessarily related/close to the people suffering with poor mental health (throughout each module). Whilst the videos were incredibly effective and very emotive - the familial element somewhat removed me from thinking of it in terms of how I may help students and threw me straight into paternal/family mode.

The course exceeded my expectations! The ALGEE framework, the resources, and the clarity about the role and boundaries of the first aider make me much more confident about handling mental health incidents. With this training, I am no longer in doubt or anxious about getting it right. Further, the delivery model (self-learning and webinar) worked well for me. It enabled us to learn and process the ideas individually and later deepen our understanding by discussing and hearing different perspectives during the webinar. Thank you!

So glad that I have completed the course- both instructors full of knowledge and real life examples. I feel much more confident in supporting young people with their mental health. Thank you

Thank you very much to Sam and Wendy - I found the training very helpful and it also drew attention to misconceptions regarding mental health.

Would have liked more videos of scenarios. Would have liked a bit more time to do the modules as found it hard to fit them in with work/ home life. Thanks

While some of the subjects are hard going, the sessions were run in such a way that it made it very interesting and approachable.
