even though I was aware of own leadership and communication styles and had heard of the chimp paradox previously I had never really considered how my style affected others
Overall the audience the fellow attendees were much younger and/or less senior in their career than I was expecting. I felt a bit like I was the most senior and had to moderate what I was saying to not look like "the big I am". I expected others to be at a more senior level to have relevant contribution to the discussions. Some didn't line manage at all and seem to be at relatively junior grades. It slightly diminished the value I think I got in terms of learning from others. People were good at meeting my access needs. Whilst the environment is still good, it seems a bit more corporate than the old building which had a greater authenticity because of its shabby chic environment.
Really really enjoyed the day and has given me the structure, framework and tools to think of things that were stressful and insurmountable as a challenge that I am even tentatively looking forward to.
Productive and engaging course, good materials.
Great start, looking forward to the rest of the course!
Looking forward to trying things out and the next course
Benet gave us practical insights and background to a critical topic, to enable us to form a stronger, better leadership team.
Useful first day. Challenge for me is how we as a group achieve positive change together once/even if we agree what that looks like
A little more variety in activities- lots of group discussion felt repetitive
