Overall very useful - I liked how he used the experience of other group members and used mix of discussion and practical. Could do with more on ‘emotional’ care of casualty/ others/ yourself. Referring to people who were actively suicidal as ‘nut jobs’ was totally inappropriate.Response : Hi Natasha, thank you for your feedback. I'm disappointed to hear one of our trainers using that expression, I will pass this feedback onto our management team and ensure this does not happen again. Thank you for bringing this to our attention.

Presentation and materials really good. It’s a lot to take in and I do wonder about splitting it across two weekends. Centre has nothing to eat - if like me you forget your lunch you go hungry.

Really good course. Knowledgeable trainer, pace a little slow at times, but managed to cram a lot into the weekend.

Trainer (Brendan) was very good. Since everyone was already familiar with content and re-qualifying he quickly covered the essentials making sure to see all of us all individually and successfully perform. Drew out individual candidates' personal experiences (e.g. being on receiving end of being injected with an epi pen/dealing with hypothermia etc) and led discussions on these to the benefit of the whole group. Was happy to go into deeper depth on topics of interest e.g. using climber's ropes to make a stretcher instead of a tarp or bivvy bag and altitude sickness. Only criticism is that whilst the teaching was done outdoors the available ground was very benign i.e. gently sloping lawn or flat ground with a few minor tree roots - so no opportunity to practice stabilising a casualty on steep or very uneven ground.

Really interesting and fun way of learning. Understood all what Brendan said. Really pleased I did it.

Great well taught course that refreshed all of the critical first aid skills required for the outdoors

Only thing is that for me travel was abit far. A closer training course to fareham would be better. I understand there may not be a great demand for it.

Derek was brilliant. The content was impressive and seemed comprehensive in terms of dealing with potentially life-threatening situations, but seemed to leave out some things which are perhaps deemed too obvious, like how to tie a head bandage, The admin was lousy. I didn't receive a pre-course inal briefing (with essential info about how to get to Merrist Hill) until the evening before. I didn't receive the pre-course handout that others did.
