BLS and moving and handling practice should have been in full. Everyone should have practiced the task. Equipment should have been that which will be used in the hospital - hoist not the one used in practice. Sling not the one used in hospitals either. MH obvs training didn’t cover the negative effects observations have - how conflict actually increases when containment increases on wards. Didn’t mention that those who undergo restraint or restrictive practice are more likely to take their own lives and self - harm. MH training could have been better and more in depth - Safewards principles? Soft words etc? Measures to reduce conflict not mentioned. Spelling mistakes and poor grammar littered throughout both presentations. Content could have been better. MH conflict was not spoken about in enough detail. Making learners watch two videos of good and bad practice not enough to train de escalation. Should have discussed ways to de escalate verbally - aka distraction - verbal reassurance - exploring the issue at hand - how to avoid patient on patient conflict arising - none of this was covered.
