Description
This course meets the training requirements for the OSHA construction asbestos standard 1926.1101, Class IV workers (workers who contact asbestos, but do not disturb asbestos) and the EPA’s AHERA regulation training requirements for staff, teachers, & contractors. The course is in three parts - Physical Characteristics, Health Effects, and Asbestos Regulations. This course will require the person taking the course to pass a True/False exam after the training. The person taking the course has 45 days to complete the course.
What you will learn
PART ONE - PHYSICAL CHARACTERISTICS of ASBESTOS: Including history of asbestos use, fiber size, aerodynamics properties, types of asbestos; how to recognize them, types of asbestos products; where to find them, recognition of damage and determination of asbestos material
PART TWO - HEALTH HAZARDS and EFFECTS of ASBESTOS: Including asbestos related diseases, routes of exposure, dose-response relationships, clinical signs of asbestos exposure, synergistic relationship between asbestos exposure and cigarette smoking, asbestos latency period, relationship of asbestos exposure to asbestosis, lung cancer, and mesothelioma, and exposure to family members
PART THREE - REVIEW of REGULATIONS: OSHA Asbestos Standards contained in 29 CFR Part 1926.1101, USEPA NESHAPS Regulations, 40 CFR Part 61, Subpart M, USEPA AHERA, 40 CFR Part 763, AND USEPA ASHARA.
