About this course
The Lantra Chainsaw Maintenance course is a two-day, hands-on training program designed to equip learners with the practical skills and theoretical knowledge to safely operate, maintain, and perform cross-cutting with a chainsaw, leading towards the Level 2 Award in Chainsaw Maintenance and Cross-cutting.
What you will learn
Participants will learn how to:
- Identify and use personal protective equipment (PPE) correctly, reporting on its condition and locating standard marks.
- Recognize required health and safety features on a chainsaw.
- Prepare a chainsaw with the correct fuel/oil mix and chain lubrication.
- Start a chainsaw from both cold and hot safely.
- Conduct pre-cutting safety tests and manage faults if they occur.
- Identify hazards, plan site safety, and organize operational procedures to ensure compliance.
- Detect faults or defects in chainsaws and decide whether professional servicing is needed.
- Select and maintain the correct tools for chainsaw maintenance. Perform all routine maintenance following manufacturer instructions or Lantra Awards guidelines.
