The C&G Confined Space High Risk course equips delegates with the skills and knowledge to safely enter, work in, and respond to emergencies in high-risk confined spaces, covering both water and non-water industry environments
The course combines classroom-based learning and practical exercises to provide a holistic understanding of confined space safety
What you will learn
Participants in this course will learn how to:
- Prepare to work safely: establishing safety zones, communication protocols, selecting correct PPE, and checking equipment.
- Enter and exit confined spaces safely: atmospheric monitoring, using access equipment correctly, authorisation processes, and identifying unsafe activities.
- Use equipment and tools safely: proper handling, usage of SCBAs (self-contained breathing apparatus), PPE inspection, after-use checks.
- Follow working procedures: implementing method statements, safe systems of work, communication methods, vigilance, and documentation.
- Deal with emergencies: safety protocols, escape procedures, emergency equipment, emergency reporting, and rescue techniques.
- Understand principles and protocols: relevant legislation, workplace exposure limits, health and safety considerations, common hazards, causes of incidents, and decontamination procedures.
- Classify and risk assess confined spaces: differentiating between NC1, NC2, NC3, and NC4 categories and implementing appropriate safety measures.
