the asbestos Half Mask Face Fit course provides practical and regulatory training on correctly fitting and testing half-mask respirators to ensure optimal protection against asbestos exposure.
The course is designed for personnel who use half-face masks or disposable filtering facepieces (FFP1, FFP2, FFP3) during asbestos-related tasks. It focuses on qualitative face fit testing, ensuring that the selected respiratory protective equipment (RPE) adequately seals to the wearer’s face for effective protection
What you will learn
- Understand the health risks associated with asbestos exposure and why RPE is crucial.
- Correct donning, fit checking, maintenance, and storage procedures for half masks and disposable masks.
- hands-on experience conducting qualitative fit tests, including bitter or sweet aerosol taste testing for assessing mask seal integrity.
- Develop skills to identify and correct fit failures and troubleshoot RPE issues.
- Ensure compliance with HSE guidance, INDG479, and regulations under CoSHH and the Control of Asbestos at Work Regulations.
