
Description
The EUSR Category 1 (CAT & Genny) course provides practical training in safely locating underground utilities in line with HSG47: Avoiding Danger from Underground Services. It is designed for operatives and supervisors involved in excavation and groundworks.
The course covers interpreting utility drawings, identifying buried services, and using CAT and Genny equipment safely and effectively. Through theory and practical assessment, delegates develop the skills needed to reduce the risk of utility strikes and support safe excavation practices.
Successful completion leads to EUSR Category 1 registration, valid for three years.
What you will learn
The EUSR Category 1 (Locate Utility Services) course covers legislation, standards, and practical methods for safely identifying underground and overhead utilities in line with HSG47, GS6, and PAS 128:2022.
It includes utility awareness, hazard identification, and safe working practices around buried services and overhead lines. Delegates develop practical skills in interpreting drawings and using CAT & Genny equipment to detect and mark services accurately.
Training is reinforced through hands-on exercises and assessment, with successful completion leading to EUSR Category 1 certification.
