I was pleasantly surprised to realise that I actually knew or innately understood a lot of what we covered. It has helped boost my confidence and I will further explore some of the things we've discussed eg coaching.
I would have liked to have had some space to think about managing your manager, and about performance management. However, I think all our time was very well used, so maybe they are for a longer course. Having lots of time together to discuss and for things to sink in worked really well. Paul's manner was great and really aided the feel of the session.
Thoroughly enjoyed this course. I it was unlike anything I'd done before. Initially I was dubious about the more conversation based practice, but actually it was the best possible way to do it as management is not one size fits all. So reassuring to speak to people in similar positions and realise the commonalities across the board. I felt very engaged the whole time. Wonderful facilitator who made everyone feel heard and offered suggestions whilst letting us lead the conversation. I like being called on to think and workshop ideas as it makes you think harder than if you were playing a more passive role. The style of training meant I had lots of realisations along the way and the skills learnt are adaptable to my personal situation.
Loved that it was very interactive, lots of great bits of practical advice too. Really great we got an hour and a half lunch so we could catch up on urgent work bits and also have a break, and good regular mini breaks inbetween. Content was great, thought-provoking and very useful in all areas of life, and facilitator was friendly and knowledgeable. Nice to have additional videos to watch, and good reflective practices built in.
I found both days very useful and would like to keep everyone from the course so that I can see how we all get on! I found day 1 harder but that may be because we were putting more things into practice and dealing with trickier subjects. (and that I have background work stress which probably made it harder to focus) Paul was a great facilitator and I really enjoyed meeting and learning from so many interesting people.
I really enjoyed the course. The number of topics covered were manageable and relevant, and gave a brilliant foundation for further learning and exploration. The course provided assurance that I am actually doing the right thing as a new manager - that management isn't a mysterious skill that has to be learned from scratch, but is something I'm already doing (including some elements I'm doing quite well, alongside others where I can see tangible improvements to make).
Trainer was great. I feel more confident about presenting.

overall it was a really well facilitated day, the activities were relevant and good a promoting conversation and discussion
