Hi there - apologies for this taking so long - I was not overly impressed with the 2 day course, there was a small amount of information that I learnt which was useful, but in my opinion, no real life material was used (example - P45's, actual payslips, P32's etc) all examples were done on spreadsheets - which in real life would generally not be the case, I appreciate not everyone will use the same payroll software so it would be difficult to pick one to show examples. I found the trainer whizzed around his spreadsheet doing formulas without actually explaining what he did. Whenever anyone asked a question he pretty much talked over the person. Just generally not impressed at all - very sorry.

Course content was disjointed and lacked direction, information was repeated to a point that time was wasted. For example, the first hour of day 1 was spent explaining what an employee is. This information could have been condensed down to a few minutes using briefer definitions and better visual resources. The majority of the time spent on excel spreadsheets, with the trainer writing some legislation and example in unorganized formats. This makes the information difficult to go back over after the live session has finished. My suggestion to fix this would be to focus more on creating premade resources that are easy to read (using tables and other diagrams) and having premade examples that the trainer works through during the session, as well as premade answers with workings that students can look at in there own time if necessary. Also practice questions and answers being provided to students to work through would be beneficial so they can practice their knowledge. I believe these changes could optimise the course, making the course length shorter. As well as making the information easier to understand and revise. I hope this constructive criticism is useful, and I hope you are able to improve the course for future students!
