AI summary of reviews

The course’s distinctive strength is its tutors’ deep electrical knowledge, patient explanations and ability to connect theory with real switching work. Attendees value the engaging discussions, clear materials and practical experience with varied HV/LV equipment and switching schedules, which builds confidence for the workplace. The well-equipped facility and supportive atmosphere also stand out, although some attendees find the course drawn out and would welcome more practical time.

Excellent tutoring by Norm. Lots of engaging stories and knowledge from a long career of Electrical work. He gave us better insights into ‘why’ we do things the way we do, not just the bog standard approach a lot of electricians take. The course itself was too full of fluff. Lots of stuff none of us need to know about work as an AP on site. This course should be split into electrically trained persons and non trained persons. As a lot of this information was covered 10 years ago for some of us during our NVQ, AM2 and 2391. More focus needed to be spent on the practical side. More exposure to switching different types of switchgear within a LV environment. The size and scale of the practical facility at the centre was underused for the time we spent here. As the price of this course was near double what other centres were charging and me being self funded I found the application process to be extremely irritating. Having to download, sign and reupload documents that should really be accessible from the site portal was a headache. I am planning on doing the HV course within the next year but due to the price it may not be feasible to do here. Happy with the environment, very smooth and easy once through the door, a good atmosphere and friendly/helpful staff.

There could be some more difficult switching schedules from SLD's for practice

Practical exercises were very useful. I would recommend emphasis on practicals for the full duration of the course.

Course was very good if you have started a job which involving isolation and switching I feel the course is too long think it could be done in 3 days. Norman the tutor has a lot more f knowledge and experience.

Course lecturer displayed high level of knowledge and was very patient with an electrician, not in the prime of youth.

I enjoyed the course but I would have liked there to be more on the practical side. Norman was friendly and had a lot of experience to pass on to us. It was a good entry level course for an introduction to switching.
