Mental Health Awareness

Description

The following course outline highlights the subjects covered on the remote theory training course for delegates to achieve training in Mental Health Awareness.
The course is designed to serve both front-line workers directly involved in behaviour support but also to other staff such as managers, receptionists and other ancillary workers.
The sessions are designed to operate remotely using Microsoft Teams and are for up to 8 delegates per session.

What you will learn

Course Objectives
This session will be 3 and a half hours in duration. This session will cover the learning outcomes and objectives. By the end of the session the learner will be able to:
• Describe what is meant by the term ‘Mental Health’
• Describe what it is to be ‘Mentally Healthy’
• Describe some of the difficulties caused by common misconceptions and stigmatisation
• The prevalence of Mental Health Problems
• Describe the symptoms of common mental health problems:
o Mood Disorders e.g. depression
o Anxiety Disorders e.g. OCD & phobias
o Psychotic Disorders – schizophrenia
o PTSD
o Bipolar Affective Disorder
• Describe the main therapeutic approaches used
• Describe effective social care support strategies
• Describe own limitations and how to access further support
