Course Overview
The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate is globally recognised as a valid Environmental Management certification. This qualification is ideal for individuals who have responsibilities in environmental management within their workplace.
During the program, participants acquire skills to help their organisations in overseeing environmental aspects and contributing to the creation and continual improvement of effective environmental management systems.
The NEBOSH Environmental Certificate will help you to:
- Explain the importance of environmental management in the workplace
- Identify the workplace tasks that could be governed by environmental laws or regulations
- Evaluate the current measures in place and analyse the environmental aspects and their effects
- Support planning for environmental emergencies

- CIWEM (The Chartered Institution Of Water & Environmental Management) has accepted it as meeting the requirements for technician membership (TECHCIWEM). All holders of the environmental certificate are eligible to apply for membership.

Course Content
The NEBOSH Environmental Management Certificate has two units:
- EMC1 – Environmental management
- EMC2 – Assessing environmental aspects and associated impacts
Within the units, delegates study the following nine elements, exploring environmental management and assessment principles:
- Foundations in environmental management
- Environmental management systems
- Assessing environmental aspects and impacts
- Planning for and dealing with environmental emergencies
- Control of emissions to air
- Control of environmental noise
- Control of contamination of water sources
- Control of waste and land use
- Sources and use of energy and energy efficiency
Learning Outcomes
On completion of the course, you will return to work with the ability to:
- Justify environmental management in the workplace
- Recognise which workplace activities may be subject to environmental legislation or enforcement
- Assess environmental aspects and impacts and evaluate existing controls
- Support environmental emergency planning
- Understand the importance of reducing environmental harm
