The aim of this programme is not to teach scientists how to write, but how to improve their proposal writing. This means reviewing what a proposal is, how it differs from other forms of writing, and what this means for us as scientists. What we achieve in the one- and two-day courses is an in-depth exploration of writing skills that equip delegates with techniques that make an immediate difference to the quality of their writing. These skills include understanding how best to plan and write the most effective response. An important outcome is to increase delegates’ self-confidence so that they are more effective in presenting proposals.
