About this course
This four-day, hands-on seminar will focus on the skills required to effectively audit Active Directory. Using VMware workstation, each attendee will have their own virtualized Windows Server 2016 Domain Controller and Windows 10 Workstation to put into practice the concepts and techniques learned during the class with a series of 15 hands on labs. The output from each of the labs will be incorporated into an Excel spreadsheet that can be used as the basis for an audit program. Separate sheets in the Auditing Active Directory Excel Spreadsheet summarize how to obtain Active Directory data using PowerShell scripts, items to look for in the output and a place to store samples of the PowerShell output. Attendees will be given their completed spreadsheet to take with them on a USB key along with the lab notes and PowerShell Scripts.
The goal of this class is to develop a practical methodology for auditing and securing Active Directory. It will investigate attacks against Active Directory and how to protect against these attacks. Audit techniques covered are designed to make Active Directory exponentially more secure and difficult to hack. The last day of class will include a role playing exercise to put into practice the skills learned earlier in the class in a challenging real world auditing environment.

Good course
This was an excellent course on securing and auditing active directory domains. I appreciate that it provided adequate coverage of Active Directory as a technical tool, but also emphasized best practices and auditing techniques and approaches. Labs provided step-by-step guides and scripts to obtain useful real-world audit evidence. The instructor, Alan, was knowledgeable of, both, the technical aspects of Active Directory and how to audit. I especially appreciate how he provided what he felt were the most important areas to look at (best bang for the buck!) and he was extremely personable and friendly throughout the training.
