Description
ontractors employed on Vodafone sites working on on near electrical systems must undertake the Vodafone Class A contractors course to familiarise themselves with Vodafone’s Electrical Health and Safety Policies and to ensure they demonstrate the relevant competency to comply with the Electricity at Work Regulations.
This course provides Vodafone Class A Contractors personnel with an understanding of the dangers of electricity and a comprehensive update to the Health and Safety Legislation.
This basic knowledge is then considered with respect to both AC and DC installations (where applicable) using BS 7671: 2008 (IEE Wiring Regulations) in order to perform installation, commissioning and maintenance tasks.
The course also considers the Vodafone’s specific electrical safety policies and procedures, information that the contractor should be aware of when working on a Vodafone site.
What you will learn
Evaluation
The course ends with an evaluation exam that is based on an open book approach. This evaluation assists both the contractor and Vodafone to understand where additional training may be required.
Competency Assessment
An assessment is carried out by the tutor of each delegate’s competence based on: the delegate’s performance on the multiple choice exam; practical tasks where relevant; evidence of previous experience and overall attitude.
This assessment is based upon the requirement for “Technical Knowledge” associated with Regulation 16 of the Electricity at Work Regulations 1989 (EAWR). It includes the following aspects:
Adequate knowledge of electricity.
Adequate training.
Adequate understanding of the equipment to be worked on.
Adequate understanding of the hazards which may arise, and the precautions that need to be taken.
The ability to recognise at all times whether it is safe to work.
