This course provides an understanding of theoretical models, processes and skills practice - within the context of providing a helping and supportive relationship to clients. There is an emphasis on self-awareness, personal and professional development, critical reflection and supervision.
What you will learn
Students study and apply the following counselling models:
psychodynamic
behavioural
person-centred
cognitive and pastoral approaches
They will also receive training in the
counselling process
develop the core counselling qualities and skills
and apply the key skills of the Problem Management and Opportunity Development Model – Egan. Developing a professional and ethical practice is at the heart of this certificate course.
