Description
Animals are agents of their own lives, and we are responsible for supporting this while they live in our care.
Environmental enrichment is an important aspect of animal care, providing animals with a variety of behavioural opportunities and cognitive challenges.
The role of modern animal care facilities includes education, research, conservation and positive animal welfare. If we are taking these responsibilities seriously, that means considering the experiences of the animals in our care 24/7 hours a day, 365 days a year.
In this event, you will consider how environmental enrichment is integral to progressive and proactive animal care and wellbeing programs - and importantly, how to implement it. You will expand on traditional welfare science to explore what matters to the individuals and groups you care for. You’ll leave feeling clear and confident, knowing how to action effective environmental enrichment programs that support optimal animal wellbeing around the clock.
