About this course

NYS DOL requires certification of any individual that performs building surveys, which would include bulk samples, as a NYS Inspector. The law requires inspectors to take bulk samples to determine if the material does or does not contain asbestos; or you may choose not to take samples and assume that it is asbestos-containing material. Similarly, NYC requires that only persons certified by NYC as Investigators or by NYS as Inspectors may select and collect bulk samples for analysis. NYS DOL & EPA require inspectors to take a 4-hour refresher course every year to maintain the certification.

What you will learn

Physical characteristics, medical hazards, respiratory protection, building systems, legal liabilities, pre-inspection planning, recordkeeping, and writing the inspection report.
