Description
This is a 15-session course designed to help you develop a happier and healthier relationship with food.
Each session has a different focus and we explore a wide range of strategies and techniques to help with all aspects of our eating, such as:
- pressure to eat or not eat certain foods, coming from family members, freinds and the food industry
- the way our bodies and minds react to certain foods
- our physical and mental relationship to ultra-processed foods
- an exploration of how our habits have been created and entrenched by our past, and strategies to develop new healthy habits that make us feel happy and well.
The sessions include discussion, simple exercises and meditations. Home practice is suggested for the week ahead that individuals tailor according to their personal situation and preferences. There is no focus on weight loss or gain, although that might be something that individuals might want to achieve.
The ethos of the Mindful Eating sessions is that individuals are on their own journey and make their own choices about which exercises or strategies are right for them.
What you will learn
You will gain a wider understanding of why you eat, based on your personal life experience and also the impact of pressure from the food industry and social media.
You will learn a wide range of simple techniques to help with over-eating, binge-eating, compulsive and emotional eating.
These include learning to cope with cravings and other habits.
You will design the course according to your personal goals, and you can focus on maintaining a weight that makes you happy and feel well, if that is something you would like.
Being part of a small, friendly group is very important for the course to be successful. An increasing awareness that you are not alone, that others have similar issues and behaviours around food as you do, can make a huge difference in your journey to good health and wellbeing.
