Description
This course is for anyone who is or may become designated as a member of a Workplace rescue and recovery Team.
It includes preparing to carry out emergency activities, using emergency equipment, casualty recovery and handling devices in accordance with manufacturers’ specifications, rescuing and recovering casualties, following procedures. This is designed for rescue around the workplace from situations with no known atmospheric hazards.
The course has a high practical element carrying out rescues from various locations utilising different rescue equipment, it is expected participants will be able to carry out these rescues.
The training has been developed using the National Occupational Standards for Working as a rescue and recovery team member, and other relevant standards.
What you will learn
- Preparing to enter and exit an area as defined by the emergency as part of a Workplace Rescue & Recovery team.
- Follow work procedures and rescue plan using industry knowledge.
- Dynamic risk assessment during rescues.
- Safely use all relevant tools & equipment.
- Understand principles of casualty rescue.
- Understand basic triage and casualty care.
- Remove a casualty safely from a simulated incident.
- Perform specific tasks as part of a Workplace rescue and recovery team member.
