About the course
This live on-line interactive insurance webinar is designed for delegates, who have some experience of Contractors’ Liability Insurance and wish to expand and/or refresh their knowledge in this area. The course will be highly interactive with delegate participation and engagement throughout. This half day course consists of two 90-minute on-line sessions with a 15-minute break. There will be a maximum of 10 delegates. The course is delivered by a Certified On-Line Learning Facilitator (COLF) who is a Chartered Insurance Broker with over 40 years insurance experience.

Course Objectives
Delegates who successfully complete this course will be able to:
- Explain the difference between contractual obligations and insurance requirements
- Describe the content of the insurance clauses within the JCT contract relating to liability risks.
- Explain why non-negligence cover may be required and how insurers meet this need
- Describe the standard structure and content of contractor’s liability insurance policies, including standard extensions and exclusions
- Describe the underwriting process and the information insurers require to assess and price risks

- The legal environment for contractors – common law/tort, statutory, contract
- Health & Safety legislation including the Construction Design and Management Regulations 2015
- Liability insurance content of common contract forms – JCT Standard, Intermediate and Minor Works
- Non-negligence cover – what is required and why
- Usual liability policy wordings for contractors – EL, PL, basic cover, exclusions, common extensions
